Thomas G. Sampson, MD The Post Street Surgery Center is pleased to provide the state-of-the-art faciliy for Hip Arthroscopy in Northern California, led by Dr. Thomas G. Sampson, a board certified Othopaedic Surgeon and Athroscopist, pioneered the Direct Lateral Approach for Hip Arthroscopy. Recognized nationally and internationally as an authority on hip arthroscopy, he has published and lectured extensively. He has been in practice since 1982, Dr. Sampson also is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF. Dr.Sampson's expertise, combined with the Post Street Surgery Center's highly trained staff and unsurpassed technical equipment, contributes to the highest quality of care and excellent outcomes.
Typical indications for hip arthroscopy include:
  1. Femoroacetabular Impingement
  2. Loose bodies in the hip (synovial chondromatosis)
  3. Labral tears
  4. Cartilage injuries from sports
  5. Impingement spurs

  7. Snapping hip syndrome
  8. Excision of benign tumors

  10. Undiagnosed hip pain
